Where to start, the MK1 Astra GTE, revealed in 1983 had a 1.8 8v Engine (115Bhp) and was Vauxhalls answer to the 80's Hot Hatch Market, when the MK2 was released in 1987 it had 2 flavours, the 2.0 8v and the much more desirable 16v (popularly known as the Redtop, due to its Red Spark Plug Cover) with 154Bhp,

It was one of the most powerful Hot Hatches of the time, became instantly popular and has gone down in history as one of the best engines of the time. So much so, many of these cars and other Vauxhall Variants sharing this engine, found their way into Conversions for Corsa and Nova's of the day, Kit cars, Minis and other engine conversions since.

The Astra GTE 2.0 16V Engine, producing a claimed 154Bhp and 150 lb/ft Torques, with 5 Speed Manual F20 Gearbox. Weighing in at just 1,020kg (depending on options) 0-60 was achieved in a swift 7.5 seconds, while its 135mph Top Speed was verified on national TV during an episode of Police Camera Action. A respectable set of figures even by todays standards. They were an underrated Fast Hot Hatch.

Climb inside and it will take you straight back to the 80's, its Rainbow Cloth Sport Seats and renowned "Digi" dash, whilst basic now, felt very modern at the time.

Retro Scene, being what it is and starting to fall into the classic car market now, these and others 80's Hot Hatches are becoming very desirable as usable collectables. Fetching strong figures and continually climbing.

This example having lived in an impressive 80/90/00's, (30+) indoor stored Vehicle Collection. The owner has decided to change direction with his collection, so it is now available to the market after 10 years of cossetted life.
