The owner has decided to change direction with his collection, so it is now available to the market after 9 years of cossetted life and in unmolested lovely condition.

1 of just 500 Cars (200 Bianca White, 200 Cherry Red and 100 Black) (There was 1 additional solitary blue car also produced) Based on the 306 GTI-6, 2.0 16V XU Petrol Engine with 167bhp/142lb ft, and (New at the time to hot hatches) 6 Speed Manual Transmission. Then following on from the 205 Rallye, the newer 106 and 306 Rallye went through a weight reduction programme, the 306 dropping a claimed 52kg (1163kg) with the deletion of the GTi’s front fog lights, air conditioning, electric windows and some sound deadening. Interior trim was simpler too - cloth, rather than the suede and leather mix of the GTi-6, basic steering wheel, of course making it quicker than the GTI, 0-62 was 7.8 Seconds and 137 Mph Top Speed (8.5/135 GTI) only available in a set of solid exterior colours with Rallye flash graphics (a throwback to the old Peugeot-Talbot Sport colours).

It was a hit with owners, Journalists and most that drove the car, it was proclaimed as one of the best hot hatches at the time, sold out quickly and has since fetched more than its more expensive at the time GTI counterpart, due to limited numbers and desirability. (By comparison 28,281 205 Rallye and approximately 16,500 S1/S2 106 Rallye were made)

These are getting harder to find (83 Taxed and 211 SORN, 294 Total in Q2 of 2023) especially with this mileage, ownership and condition, whilst it is not concourse or perfect, it is a beautiful example throughout, a usable classic. It wouldn't look out of place at any car show or collection and it will provide amazing Nostalgic value. With these being seemingly sensible money compared to other similar Hot Hatches of the same era, they may make a worthy Investment too.
