If you are a regular visitor to our website, you will know we favoured the previous Fiesta ST, having sold over 60 stunning examples, including 10 Limited edition ST200's. We have tried the new MK8, to see if like the old model - Performance and a huge grin factor doesn’t have to be expensive, it does not disappoint.

MK8 revised in 2018 saw a slight face lift with new bumpers and lights (Although the chassis is also longer and wider), the fantastic new style interior with large centre screen Sync 3 media system, new Recaro seats, the big change was the more economical but power matching to the outgoing ST200, 1.5L Turbo with 197Bhp. The 2020MY ST3 Fiesta also saw the Performance Pack and Bang & Olufsen Sound System added as standard (previously cost options), newer style LED projector headlights and updated Sync 3.

The Ford Fiesta ST has always set the bench mark for small hot hatches. They represent fantastic driver appeal for the money. Its All New 1.5 Turbo Engine with 6 Speed Manual gearbox, Producing 200Ps, 0-60 is a considerably quick 6.5 seconds, 144Mph Top Speed, with a high equipment level, they are great for a either a daily drive and a lot of fun when wanted.

The Performance Edition Takes the ST one stage further, based on the highest spec ST3 Performance Pack Model, it adds Lightweight Magnetite Finish Alloys, Ford Performance Coilover Suspension (Lowered 10mm Rear - 15mm Front) and unique Deep Orange Paintwork.

You won’t have trouble spotting a new Ford Fiesta ST Performance Edition when the first cars hit the road in September. With a coat of Deep Orange paintwork and a set of grey ten-spoke wheels, it’s probably the least subtle hot Fiesta so far. Just 600 of which will be made.

Unique to the Performance Edition is the orange paintwork, plus a set of 18-inch, ten-spoke alloy wheels that both look more tasteful than the ST’s standard rims, and save a total of 7kg over the regular wheels. Additionally, the special edition gets adjustable Ford Performance coilover suspension, with 12 clicks of bump and 16 clicks of rebound. It’s also 15mm lower at the front and 10mm lower at the rear than the regular ST.

In terms of outright performance, power comes from the same 1.5-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged engine as in every other ST. To be fair, that’s hardly a bad thing – not only does the three-pot burble along characterfully, but it’s still capable of developing 197bhp at 6000rpm, and puts out 214lb ft from only 1600rpm. In Performance Edition form, the optional Quaife limited-slip differential is standard, as are launch control and shift light indicators. Make use of everything Ford gives you and a 6.5sec 0-62mph time and 144mph top speed are there for the taking.
