Numerous 5 star reviews - Simply sumptuous. Even after spending a short time behind the wheel of the new TT, you're left with a lasting impression of just how pleasing it would be to live with every day.

Audi has put a lot of work into trimming any excess weight from the TT, and it feels nimble and keen to change direction as a result. There is hardly any lean in the body when you turn the wheel into a bend.

In front of the driver is the foot-and-a-bit wide LCD ‘Virtual Cockpit’ instrument panel you’ve already heard so much about, with switchable displays including different layouts for the tacho and speedometer and a full-bleed navigation map (which isn’t always as easy to follow as you might hope). The display is sharp and attractive, impervious to both bright sunlight and polarised sunglasses and straightforward to command, using a mixture of steering wheel controls and the latest generation of Audi’s familiar turn ’n’ click MMI controller near the gearlever. After a bit of trial and error even the most technophobic of drivers will have the measure of it. Circular air vents which feature integrated control functions and displays for the air conditioning are another highlight.

Some things seem too good to be true, and we wouldn't blame you for thinking the TT was one of them.
