The owner has decided to change direction with his collection, so it is now available to the market after 12 years of cossetted life and in unmolested lovely condition.

A true 90's Hot Hatch Icon, Launched in 1993 with the Williams 1 (Named after the F1 team), homologation special because Renault Sport wanted to go rallying. 3,800 originally planned worldwide, however these sold so quickly, Renault decided to produce another 1,600 cars all numbered (Only around 390 of these destined for the UK). Again so desirable that Renault decided to produce a Williams 2 and 3 at later stages (gaining safety features as the years progressed), eventually building around 12,000 worldwide, a lot of these were converted to race cars or cars broken to repair race cars, the actual number of road cars is significantly lower than the figures suggest. Williams 1 & 2 Painted in the Iconic Sports Blue (with no sunroof), the Williams 3 being changed slightly to Monaco Blue (with Sunroof) all sharing the contrasting gold speedline alloys and decals. Interior was shared throughout with the Sports Padded Cloth Seats in Grey with Blue detailing, Blue colour scheme extending to the carpets, gear knob Insert, seat belts, instrument dials.

Sharing the Wide Body and Bulged bonnet from the Clio 16v, the Williams got a 2.0 Naturally Aspirated F7R Engine (developed from the 16v’s 137bhp F7P unit), it features a longer stroke and bigger bore size, and benefits from a stronger crankshaft (borrowed from the diesel Clio) plus new pistons, camshafts and conrods, with bigger valves and a lightweight exhaust manifold, the result 148bhp at 6100rpm and 126lb ft at 4500rpm (175Nm, 85% of which is available at 2,500 rpm). In a car weighing less than a Tonne. Mated with a specially developed revised stronger 5 Speed Gearbox, 0-62 mph in 7.8 seconds and a possible 130Mph. It was a hit with Journalists and owners alike (although original owners were never happy about the continued production). Along with chassis changes to make it a formidable road car.

These are getting harder to find (55 Taxed and 185 SORN in 2023, Compared to 53/182 for Williams 1 and 26/119 for Williams 3) especially with this mileage, ownership and condition, whilst it is not concourse, it is an incredibly beautiful example throughout, with fantastic genuine low mileage and a lovely history. It wouldn't look out of place at any car show or in a collection and it will provide amazing Nostalgic value. The prices of these have seen a consistent increase, showing their growing desirability.
